Why did you take up diving? In my youth I was a keen club swimmer, the transition to diving seemed like a natural evolution.

How long have you been diving? I learned to dive with the PADI organisation in March 2000, before joining the Clydebank branch the following May.

Your diving Grade? Sport Diver, the first qualified grade in the ScotSAC syllabus.

Your favourite Scottish diving location? I’d be hard pressed to choose between the wall at Calve Island, Tobermory and the Saw-Cut at St. Kilda. Both spectacular dives but for different reasons.

Your favourite foreign diving location? I think the wreck of RMS Rhone, in the British Virgin Islands, is just about the most lovely wreck I’ve dived. Everything you’d like a wreck to be and all too seldom is.

Your favourite item of kit? It would have to be my full face mask, which despite using just a little more air than a standard regulator, keeps me so cosy diving during the winter months.

Why did you take up diving? Interest in wild life. Enjoyed idea of weightlessness & freedom of movement.

How long have you been diving? 32 years(at March08)

Grade? Master Diver.

Favourite Scottish Dive Site?  St.Abbs.

Favourite Foreign Dive Site?  Northern Red Sea. Ireland because water slightly clearer & warmer than Scotland.

Why did you take up diving? I always enjoyed swimming and using a Mask, Snorkel and Fins as a boy. I was introduced to diving when I started working.

How long have you been diving? I learnt to dive in London with the BSAC (similar to the SSAC) in 1967, so that makes ……..!???

Your diving Grade? 1st Class Diver SSAC.

Your favourite Scottish diving location. A very difficult choice and there are several: Hispania in the Sound of Mull, Oban area, St.Abbs, Eyemouth.

Your favourite foreign diving location? I first dived the Red Sea in 1977. It was pristine. Now, I’m afraid, it is quite badly damaged, particularly in the Northern Red Sea. Florida Keys was great-full of fish.

Your favourite item of kit? My Demand Valve, because no matter how good a diver you think you are, your life depends on this bit of kit. You must have confidence in it, so I certainly take care of my D/V. However, I would also have to add my underwater camera. I never dive without it.

Why did you take up diving ? I always enjoyed the water from a young age and was fascinated by the life that was under the ocean so diving seemed like a good way to explore it.

How long have you been diving? I first joined Clydebank Sub Aqua Club at the age of 13 and became a qualified diver at 15. I am now 19 so have been diving for 4 years.(at March08)

Your diving grade? I am a sport diver but wish to advance later on.

Your favourite Scottish diving location? I don't have a favourite diving site. No site is ever the same.

Your favourite foreign site? Recently I visited Mexico and was diving a site called Tortougees. I would say this was the best site for me so far as we were seeing rays, sharks, fish, corals, and turtles all on one site.

Your favourite piece of kit? I would have to say my favourite piece of kit was my Drysuit it keeps me warm and dry. well most of the time...

Why did you take up diving? As a boy I always enjoyed swimming and being around the water and it always interested me to think what was going on underneath the surface, so learning to dive enabled me to find out.

How long have you been diving?I joined Clydebank Sub Aqua Club in 1997 and dived for 3 years but unfortunately had to stop due to work commitments. But once you have the bug you’re hooked, and I rejoined in November 2004.

Your diving Grade?I qualified as a 3rd Class Diver now known as a Sports Diver with SSAC.

Your favourite Scottish diving location? With out doubt this has to be the Sound of Mull. And in particular the wreck of the SS Shuna. Closely followed by the wall at Calve Island, Tobermory.

Your favourite foreign diving location? This has to be Cuba. The reefs just off the coast of the Cayo Coco area are superb with their vast variety of marine life.

Your favourite item of kit?I absolutely love my split fins. They make movement under the water far easier for me, but they do have there draw backs when it comes to fighting a strong current.
